First off, we apologize to our out-of-USA faithful reader(s). The Hulu clip may not play for you. There is a You Tube trailer just below the cut for you.

Official Synopsis

The film, directed by Patrick Meaney, produced by Amber Yoder, and shot by Jordan Rennert, includes extensive interviews with Morrison and many of his most important collaborators, including Warren Ellis, Geoff Johns, Douglas Rushkoff, Frank Quitely, Dan DiDio, Frazer Irving, Phil Jimenez, Cameron Stewart, Jill Thompson, Mark Waid, and others.

The film covers his early years growing up and the start of his career in comics, and the growth and development of his career and its connection to his personal life. It also looks at his creative process, including a look at his idea notebooks.

What We Learned:
Grant Morrison talked to Superman. That’s how it works. You’re sitting there, struggling to figure out the world. Then the universe gives you Superman and everything falls into place.

Why We’re Gonna Watch:
First we learned of CAPTURED GHOSTS and now this? If ever there were a film that needed seeing. This is it for us. Morrison’s talk on sigil magic made us think. Now he has a documentary wherein every comics creator we’ve ever admired is talking about the man who redefined how we view Superman(please see: ALL STAR SUPERMAN). The picture Waid and Morrison paint of seeing a man dressed as Superman just walking around the street one day is, for lack of better words, ‘fucking beautiful’. There’s no other way we can describe this.

When’s it coming?

The company plans a limited theatrical run following a kick-off at New York Comic Con in October.

And that’s all we know at the moment.

Press Release

GRANT MORRISON: TALKING WITH GODS examines Morrison’s 30-year career and the real-life events that inspired his stories. Featuring extensive interviews with Morrison himself, the film delves into his early days growing up in Scotland, the start of his career in comics, the crazy years of the ’90s as his life and his comics became enmeshed, and his recent attempts to turn personal troubles and social darkness into compelling comics. The film also gives insight into his creative process, including a look into his vaunted idea notebooks. Complementing Morrison’s own words are interviews with many of his most important collaborators, including Warren Ellis, Geoff Johns, Douglas Rushkoff, Frank Quitely, Dan DiDio, Frazer Irving, Phil Jimenez, Cameron Stewart, Jill Thompson, Mark Waid, and others.

The film is designed to be accessible both to long time fans of Morrison and to people who don’t know who he is but are interested in the story of a modern philosopher and magician with radical ideas about the universe and our place in it,” said Meaney.
